Well, I asked myself and verified that I am allowed to install any programs I wish to at will.

I even toyed with adding extra permissions for the .exe and shortcut [see below], to no avail.

I  also checked your Adobe AIR installation troubleshooter section before  posting. Unfortunately, none of the solutions 100% applied to my  circumstances or OS, yet I tried a few anyway and had it confirmed by a  Windows dialogue that I need not have bothered as it assured me that  they weren't applicable in my case.

I found another thread like  mine where somebody suggested creating a shortcut with an additional  -uninstall parameter added to the .exe path. It didn't work.

I used Microsoft's Installation Cleanup Utility and that didn't work to "un-confuse" the installer either.

We are running Air Runtime 1.5 on a custom Linux OS (based around Debian) which is being used on our Digital Signage computer control boxes. Recently we needed to update the Air App that is being used to display our signage content on a box that was on the other side of the country. The final step of the update required the boxes 'root" password to be entered by someone at the box, not ideal, not practical and not something we want to do with thousands of boxes, but all updated fine.

My question is, how we can do the whole install/unistall/update process of both the Air Runtime (if we so choose) and the Air App on boxes located anyhwhere in the world from our head office in Melbourne without needing someone at the other end with a keyboard entering critical passwords and so forth? I have researched the "Silent Install" but I am stll not sure if that covers both Air Runtime and Air Apps or whether that is in fact the right approach?

I look forward to hearing all your replies, so I can move on confidently with Adobe Air.

We are about to deploy Adobe AIR Runtime 2.5 in our organization.

To do this we use the following command line

AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent -eulaAccepted

This works great. But I am not sure how to disable the automatic updates.

When reading the Adobe AIR configuration guide, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/admin/WS485a42d56cd1964167ea49bd124ef17d52a-7ff5.html it says I should create the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\AIR\UpdateDisabled and set it to 1.

But when I run the AIR SettingsManager application after I set this registry key it says that automatic updates are enabled.

And if I choose to disable automatic updates from the tool it creates the file %APPDATA%\Adobe\AIR\updateDisabled.

How can I make sure that automatic updates are disabled for all users on all the computers we deploy Adobe AIR Runtime 2.5 to?

Since we are doing an enterprise deployment it is not really an option to ask each and every user to run AIR SettingsManager every time they logon to a new computer

How do I fix this?

Every time I try to update my keyword research software I get this message: "This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance."

I have tried numerous uninstalls and re-installs and still can't get it to work???

I have been trying to get an answer to this for almost a year now.

     I've been trying to install Salesforce Chatter on a users computer and keep receiving the error, "Sorry an error occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author."

Hello I was trying to install Vudu to go so I can watch my movies digitally anywhere. I ran into a problem when the application wanted me to install adobe air, I keep getting error #5100. It seems as though as if adobe air is incompatible with my pc but when I looked at adobe air specifications I assume my pc should be able to run it.

I've tried everything in terms of installing and uninstalling Adobe Air, but nothing has helped. When I use the installer, my current version is 18.0.0.144 and when I click install, it says "Sorry, and error has occurred....Installation may not be allowed by your administrator". I am the admin. Hello, I need help getting Adobe AIR to update.

I have tried downloading the installer and installing the program that way but every time I just get the 'An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator.' error message. Ich hatte Adobe Air auf meinem PC und wollte es aktualisieren. Da ständig eine Fehlermeldung kam, habe ich es deinstalliert und wollte es neu installieren. Es kommt jetzt immer noch die gleiche Fehlermeldung: "Beim Installieren von Adobe AIR trat ein Fehler auf. Möglicherweise wurde die Installation durch den Administrator untersagt. Wenden Sie sich an den Administrator."
Ich bin aber Administrator. Ich habe es dann unter einem anderen Benutzer versucht, wieder die gleiche Fehlermeldung. Was soll ich tun? Brauche Adobe Air dringend für Plugins in Dreamweaver.

Habe die Lösung unter windows 10 selbst gefunden: Wenn diese Fehlermeldung erscheint, dann auf den Odrner mit dem Download der Datei adobeAirinstaller.exe gehen und mit der rechten Maustaste anklicken. Dann auf als Administrator ausführen klicken und schon funktioniert es.

I've found a small error code section for the Reader Updater, so I know it's standard practice to provide error notices.

Where can I find a list of installer error messages for Adobe AIR on the MacOS platform? I've seen error 7 or 8 during very early testing, if I remember correctly.

This will help us produce better error feedback to a user in case AIR fails to install.

A little bit of history

I bought the software last year and it worked perfectly fine.  Then there was a new update for Market Samurai and it never worked since on this computer.  I’ve tried it on other computers and it works fine.

Here’s the last support message I got from Market Samurai

The developers cannot think of anything we haven't already tried, and they too are unable to find any information about this issue - it has us all stumped!

Do you have another computer you can install Market Samurai on? Or could you do a fresh install of Windows on your computer? I know it sounds drastic, but in cases like this the easiest (and sometimes only) solution is to try a fresh install of Windows.

Here’s some conversation with Market Samurai's support and steps of what I’ve done so far:

Ok, I just tried every step detailed in your e-mail below

     "It appears there is a corrupt or damaged file that is preventing the install from happening.

First, uninstall both Market Samurai and Adobe AIR using the Control Panel's "Add/Remove Programs" area (in XP) or "Uninstall a Program" (Vista and Win7)

Then go to http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en-us to run "Microsoft Fix-It", which is designed to clean up problems which can get in the way of uninstalling and reinstalling software.

As an alternative, download and install "Revo Uninstaller" which is available on a free 30-day trial from http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html - this should help you remove any traces of Adobe AIR from your system which may be hanging around and blocking a proper reinstall.

Perform a search on your hard drive for all files that end in ".air" - delete these, as your computer may be caching the corrupt file, preventing you from downloading a new copy of the file (here's an illustration of how to find the Search feature http://goo.gl/q0inI on all versions of Windows)

Be sure to check that there are no AIR (files with the extension .air) in C:\Program Files\Common Files\ - delete any you find.

Download the Market Samurai AIR file again from your personalized download page linked below - use the link under option 2, Manual install - and try reinstalling again."

I did the advanced remove with the revo, uninstalled adobe air and market samurai, conducted a search on my pc for .air and made sure to delete everything, plus did a restart. And I still get the same error.

My reply

Negative sir, I've tried the steps above and still no success. My account is already operating as an administrator then I clicked on "change user account control settings" (I have windows 7) and changed the setting from default to "never notify and still no success.

I've changed the User Account Settings from Default to Always Notify me (which is the opposite of last time), tried reinstalling the software (market samurai) and I still get the same error. So I proceeded with the manual install of adobe air which was ok then I tried the new information that you've given me (for the other product) above and I get the same error.  Oh yeah, and I've also tried running the "Fix it" from Windows and no success.

It seems that I can’t install any of the Market Samurai nor the Domain Name Samurai from this publisher.  Yet I have the Livescibe Pen which is working fine.

Do you have any other solutions other than trying to reinstall windows?

I have tried to download an application that uses Abode AIR.  I always receive the same error message "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged.  Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author."  I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe AIR and keep getting the same error message.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
